My name is Cherin McKend. I am a grateful optimist who is certain that our thoughts create our life and that life is inherently good. I can see the opportunities in the problems and I believe that love and compassion are immensely powerful. Tapping into this source of power is what meditation, yoga and Ayurveda are all about. Connecting with our authentic selves removes barriers to our happiness and success, and that is extremely exciting to me. I love working with people and opening their minds to new ways of thinking. I enjoy pointing people in the direction of true happiness.
My Meditation Journey
After running MJSBioLynx, a Life Science Research Products Distribution Company for 15 years, I became discouraged by how many suppliers, customers, friends and relatives were encountering so much stress in their daily lives. To me, they seemed to be going nutty, and I felt I was going nutty too. I was losing touch with that inner bliss I used to have. So I started searching for ways to bring more balance and joy back into my life. That’s when I found a beautiful book titled “The Seven Spiritual Laws of Success” by Dr. Deepak Chopra, M.D. After reading it, I signed up for his newsletters and joined his meditation community. It was meditation that catapulted my shift back to my true self, and helped me find freedom from self-imposed pressures.
My oldest son also encountered his own difficulties after suffering two concussions in a short period of time. You can read his story here. He learned to meditate and was able to overcome his obstacles, and together, we joined the Chopra “Seduction of Spirit” event. It was at this event that I decided to learn more about meditation, yoga, and Ayurveda, so that I could share this wisdom. This is when I decided to become certified as an instructor.
More About Me
I am a volunteer French teacher and yoga instructor for our local Montessori school. I have also been introducing yoga to the athletes at our local competitive swim club. Working with kids is definitely something I’m passionate about. Helping our community instill healthy living habits in children is really my dream. If we can start children off early with meditation, yoga and healthy eating, we could make such a difference in our world.
I love being surrounded by family and friends. I have four amazing children and a loving, supportive husband. We have a sit down dinner for 2 to 10 people almost every night. I also love getting lost in my personal yoga practice, or going for long walks. Mother Nature’s beauty is my refuge.
